I lament the fact that for a birthday present my child was given a DVD version of the Chronicles of Narnia.

Try as they might, Disney conveyed little of the imagination, imagery, and substance, which made the original series of books by CS Lewis, the enduring classics that they are.

I’m afraid due to the movie, my children’s imaginations will forever be stunted or polluted by this weak telling of the story, and never be able to fully capture the deeper essence expressed by the authors adept ability in creating complex and evolving characters on a page.

Striped from the books for the sake of making commercially viable movies are the complex life lessons, expertly crafted by Lewis, which continually convey deeper levels of meaning as the reader grows, matures and faces different life experiences.

My overwhelming concern is that since the Lewis estate has sold the move rights to Disney, that now arguably the most re-read series of books in western culture will be given the substantive value of “Flubber” or the “Shaggy PI” to following generations.

For instance, with artistic license and cunning literary skill, Lewis created a fantastic and fearfully awesome, loving GOD personified in the shape of a Lion. However, Disney portrayed him as a two-dimensional, carpet covered claymation, unfit for the “Lion King’s” cutting room floor.

I wax nostalgic for the Chronicles of Narnia this month because in one of the books (which I hope not to see in its movie format), tells a story which has a direct correlation to the topic I want to discuss with you today.

This being: Entrepreneurial Motivation.

Unlike our wage-slave cohorts in the world who live in constant fear of their boss’s wrath, we have no one but ourselves to motivate us to give 110%.

There will be times when you feel tired and lack the gumption to put in the work required for success. When that happens, I hope that this month’s post will inspire you to overcome the obstacles before you, and that you will emerge on the other side, proud of your accomplishments!
